The Union-Wades spent a few sun-soaked days on Martha's Vineyard, where they embraced earthy palettes, airy layers, and subtle coordination.
How should one family pack for a week in Martha’s Vineyard? According to Gabrielle Union, Dwayne Wade, and their 7-year-old daughter Kaavia, it’s all about color coordination, lightweight layers, and well-accessorized swimwear sets.
On Wednesday, Union took to Instagram to share a recap of the family’s recent end-of-summer sojourn on the East Coast. Between ocean dips and ice cream runs was a satisfying sartorial story that embodied ocean-side ease and nauticality. On one particularly stylish evening, the family embraced a tonal dress code, with Union in a royal blue strapless gown, Wade in jeans and a white tank, and Kaavia in a patterned set that tied both color stories together. Naturally, this in-sync aesthetic extended from dinner outings to family beach days.
In one pre-swim picture, Union wore a multicolored bikini with swirling shades of azure and burgundy, while Dwayne sported swim trunks adorned in navy and white stripes. Their pattern play was continued by Kaavia, who wore a sweet polka-dot set. While Union and Kaavia are no strangers to full-on matching outfits, subtle swimwear coordination has become a family signature this summer. Earlier in the week, Union and Wade showcased their knack for seaside synchronicity in bucket hats and contrasting neon swimsuits.
While the Martha’s Vineyard trip was full of group-dressing moments, Union of course also showed off her individual style. Staying true to her penchant for dressed-down elegance on vacation, the star’s motto for the week was bubble hems and playful accessories. For one outing, she donned a chocolate-brown Michael Kors set, which featured rippling balloon pants and a tucked-in oversized button-up. She completed the look with a patterned bandana and gold jewelry, adding some high-shine hardware to the otherwise breezy ensemble.
With other looks, however, she let simplicity shine. One outfit saw her lean into classic East Coast prep in a blue-and-green knit polo. In another, she embraced pared-back polish in a white T-shirt and lightwash jeans—an outfit formula that Kaavia also embraced while sightseeing on the island.
Ultimately, the week was full of earthy palettes, airy fabrics, and just the right amount of East Coast codes. With their latest looks, the Union-Wades showcased once again that they’ll always be among the best-dressed in the room, even on vacation.
