Hey Kitty Girl! Inside Kylie Jenner’s Pre-Birthday Pink Party

Happy almost 29th birthday, Kylie Jenner! Beauty mogul, mom, and a mighty Leo. Jenner celebrated her birthday early with a “Princess Kitty”-themed party. What does that mean, you might be asking? And what, most importantly, about the dress code?

Jenner kicked the party off in style wearing a neon-pink latex mini-dress (probably from her own brand, Khy) paired with candy pink, fluffy Gucci Bombshell sandals. Glam was equally Barbie girl, with a pop of blush on the cheeks, a smoky eye, and precisely lined pink lip by her go-to makeup artist Ariel Tejada. Her manicure was also a coordinating shade of hot pink. In the background of her selfie posted to Instagram, you could peep Jenner’s massive collection of Birkin bags.

Pals and Kardashian sisters alike understood the outfit assignment: Hailey Bieber wore a sparkly pink spaghetti strap top and cream capris with a feather boa and tiara, while Devon Lee Carlson and sister Sydney, Khloé Kardashian, Victoria Villarroel, and Kelsey Calemine all dressed in various shades of fuchsia, watermelon, and bubblegum. Spouses and partners were also in attendance, including Justin Bieber and Devon’s fiancé Duke Nicholson. (Though it’s unconfirmed if Jenner’s own partner Timothée Chalamet was there.)

Festivities started at Jenner’s Beverly Hills home, where Hailey began mixing cocktails. Friends had arranged an array of cakes and sweet treats, including some exquisitely designed cakes by Cory Pohlman—a cake decorator known for her detailed, three-dimensional works, and who has made cakes for Hailey Bieber, Lady Gaga, and plenty of the Kardashian-Jenner kids. One of Kylie’s cakes was a detailed rendering of a woman’s body in a pink string bikini with three-dimensional breasts and bottoms with “meow” etched all-over, and the other a white cake covered in multi-colored, variously shaped jewels. A third cake was small, circular, and pink with four cartoon cats and red “Happy birthday kitty Kylie.”

The more shocking shades of pink recall Kylie Jenner’s most infamous era, King Kylie—but it’s also a harkening back to birthdays gone by. For her 21st, Jenner (then with peroxide blonde hair) rocked not one but two pink looks: the first a deep pink and silky Peter Dundas cutaway dress with sharp shoulders, and the second a Swarovski crystal-encrusted romper by LaBourjoisie. Trends and aesthetics come and go, but King Kylie is forever.

Jenner—much like her sisters—always tends to go big for her birthday. She spent her 27th birthday in the Bahamas with a small group of close friends and Chalamet. Last year was an intimate party planned by sister Kendall Jenner, where the group took part in a paint and sip.
