The Best Dressed Stars of the Week Perfected Summer Party Dressing

From evening galas to garden parties, Hollywood’s finest are showing how to do summer formal right.

The Story

Between weddings, galas, and garden parties, there are more than enough occasions to dress for this summer—and Hollywood’s finest are showing how to do summer formal right. This week, the best dressed stars all slipped into seasonally-appropriate designs—from sleek suits to captivating couture gowns—that struck the right chords of elegant yet effortless.

Take Greta Lee in her Dior couture gown, worn to the Toy Story 5 premiere in L.A.: She wore a one-shouldered, twisted knit bubble dress, featuring an asymmetrical draped skirt embroidered with red and white velvet flowers. It was statement-making and sculptural, yet still felt carefree. Ditto for Taylor Swift in her black, slinky floral gown, designed by Sarah Burton for Givenchy—a perfect, romantic look for the Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee.

While dresses are a summer hero piece, this week also had some killer tailoring and separates that felt just as polished. There was Elle Fanning in New York, wearing a chocolate brown Saint Laurent two-piece with pointed pumps and no shirt underneath—a sexier, summer-ready take on suiting up. As for a killer menswear moment? Josh O’Connor emerged in a blush-pink Lemaire look, layering a sweater vest over a silky button-up. We know, we know: Knits in summer? But when it looks this good, it’s worth the sweating.
