The-Dream Confirms New Album Amid Rape and Sexual Battery Lawsuit

Usher, Pusha T, and Swizz Beatz have united with the producer, who is still in litigation with a former collaborator

The Story

The-Dream, the Beyoncé and Rihanna hitmaker who is being sued by a former collaborator alleging rape, sexual battery, and sex trafficking, has confirmed his comeback with a new album. (The-Dream has denied the allegations in the 2024 lawsuit.) The-Dream’s own label, Radio Killa, and the Universal imprint Republic will release the sequel to his 2007 album Love/Hate on July 10. Among those on the Love/Hate II guest list are Pusha T, Swizz Beatz, T.I., Kelly Rowland, Rick Ross, and, on a single released today called “Tampa,” Usher.

The-Dream announced his return in May in a wide-ranging interview with Variety that made no mention of the allegations or ongoing lawsuit. The case, brought by the Dutch singer and songwriter Chanaaz Mangroe following months of alleged abuse in the mid 2010s, remains active in California’s District Court, with the-Dream’s legal team filing orders as recently as last week, requesting a deadline extension to gather evidence.
