J. Press has unveiled its Mister Mort capsule, a limited collaboration with Mordechai Rubinstein, the street-style photographer, author, actor, stylist and self-described reluctant anthropologist behind the Mister Mort name. The collection distills the partnership into a tight edit of Made-in-U.S.A. essentials, pairing the label’s Ivy League vocabulary with Rubinstein’s magpie eye for how real people actually dress.
At the heart of the capsule are mixed-up contrast collar O.C.B.D.s, a knowing spin on the oxford cloth button-down that J. Press helped canonize. Alongside them sit logo dad hats and a run of neckties crafted in New York from deadstock silk, a detail that keeps the collection firmly in limited-quantity territory. Every piece is made in the U.S.A., a through-line that reads as much like a statement of intent as a manufacturing note.
The pairing makes sense on both sides. Rubinstein has spent years as a fixture of menswear commentary, his lens trained on the way clothing lives on the street rather than the runway, and his sensibility leans into the offbeat, the mismatched and the quietly expressive. The contrast collar, essentially a controlled clash of fabrics, is a natural extension of that outlook.
The Mister Mort x J. Press capsule is available now via J. Press in limited quantities.
