Felix Walworth’s “New York record” arrives September 4
Told Slant, the solo project of Florist’s Felix Walworth, has a new album on the way. What’s Up, their first record since 2020’s Point the Flashlight and Walk, arrives on September 4 via Mtn. Laurel Recording Co. Walworth also released a new song, “Manhattan,” today. You can listen to that below.
In a press statement, Walworth called What’s Up their “New York record,” which to them means exploring what happens when you dedicate yourself “somewhat maniacally to the project of self expression and subculture in one of the most hostile environments on earth.” Walworth played drums, bass, and guitar on the LP alongside Hannah Pruzinsky and their Florist bandmate Jonnie Baker. Ceci Sturman, Helen Ballentine (AKA Skullcrusher), Emily Sprague, Mari Rubio, and Elijah Wolf also feature.
Told Slant will also play three UK shows in November in support of What’s Up. The brief run includes dates in Brighton, Bristol, and London, where they’ll play at MOTH Club as part of Pitchfork Festival London.
