Watch Olivia Rodrigo Unravel in New “The Cure” Video

The Story

Olivia Rodrigo just dropped her new song “The Cure.” (No, not that Cure—though Rodrigo and Robert Smith did sing “Just Like Heaven” together at Glastonbury last year.) The single is accompanied by a music video directed by Cat Solen and Jamie Gerin, which casts Rodrigo as a midcentury nurse saving hearts—well, attempting to—at a hospital where (spoiler) she ends up a patient herself. Watch it below.

Rodrigo premiered the single during an unlikely appearance on NTS Radio last night, where she ran through a tracklist that included Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Elliott Smith, and, of course, the Cure, before concluding with her own track. Listen to that here.

You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love arrives June 12. Petra Collins directed the video for the album’s lead single, “Drop Dead,” which had Rodrigo dancing through Versailles. At the start of the month, Rodrigo pulled double duty as host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live, where she debuted a still-unreleased song, “Begged,” with an assist from Weyes Blood’s Natalie Mering. Her Unraveled Tour runs from September to next May, with support from Grace Ives, Wolf Alice, and more.
