The End of Summer Calls for Coconut Chrome Nails

The latest take on the glazed donut trend is crisp and vibrant.

The Story

When you think of white nail polish for summer, the possibilities are endless: from coconut milk to vanilla latte, all the way to shades that give your manicure a mermaid-inspired vibe. A simple yet effective way to highlight your tan, to be reimagined through new textures, finishes, and shades transforming a classic into a masterpiece sure to satisfy even the most discerning trend-setters. For summer 2026, the trend to follow is coconut chrome nails, which are created when a bright, crisp white is topped with chrome powder.

You can’t talk about chrome nails—white or otherwise—without mentioning the inventors of the glazed donut nails, Hailey Bieber and her go-to nail artist Zola Ganzorigt.

Coconut chrome is 2026’s update to the long-standing (and still, very popular!) trend. Instead of a nude shade like OPI’s Bubble Bath or Put It In Neutral as the base, try a shade of white. There are so many to choose from, which include crisp and saturated tones as well as softer, warmer shades.

Much more than just plain white nail polish, coconut chrome nails are created by playing with translucent shimmers that enhance the nails with hues ranging from light blue to pink and even champagne, all thanks to the chrome finish.

To let the white nail polish reveal all its shimmer, the simplest solution is to use special chrome powders, which you apply over the polish to achieve a luminous chrome effect. For those unfamiliar with chrome powders and who prefer simpler nail art, white pearlescent nail polish is the ideal alternative for adding shimmer to a manicure with just one coat. The effect is achieved through proper layering of the color the nail bed must not show through at all, so you may need to apply two coats of polish.
