On a recent visit to Paris, James, Juhoon, Martin, Seonghyeon, and Keonho invite Vogue along as they shop for records, nosh on açai bowls, and sail along the Seine.
If you’re going to drink espresso for the very first time, you might as well do it in a charming Parisian café, non? That’s exactly what Johoon of the Korean boy band Cortis decided on a recent visit to the French capital, at the top of a day that also includes shopping for records, noshing on açai bowls, and sailing on the Seine.
Once he and bandmates Seonghyeon and Keonho have been suitably caffeinated at Minicafe—and after a cheeky chaser of creamy soft serve—they meet up with Martin and James, and the five guys are off to Plastic Soul Records. There, they reflect on some of their musical influences—ranging from Debussy to the Rolling Stones and Celine Dion—and pick up an original copy of Edith Piaf’s “La Vie en Rose” before taking a quick walk to a snack shop for açai bowls, one of the band’s favorite foods. (Martin even explains how the treat made its way into their music.)
After practicing their French skills on the street, the next stop for Cortis is vintage store Metallic Curtain, where they browse the racks and discuss everything from Balenciaga to Kurt Cobain to the growing popularity of vintage shopping in Korea. The day ends in style, with a boat ride—and a scenic view of Paris, which seems to be Cortis’s for the taking.
