Curious what Vogue editors actually spend their money on? These are the items that you’ll actually find in our closets this spring.
As Vogue editors, we often wax poetic on the latest runway must-haves, but not every item we gush about on this website ultimately ends up in our closets. Our discoveries are nice to behold—they’re lovely to look at and inspire fun conversation—however, of all the tempting things to buy, what did we actually end up purchasing? Each month we’ll highlight those special finds our editors welcomed into their lives—all the things that made us buyers rejoice.
“I’m getting ready for summer swims with beach-ready linen, a sleek one-piece, a packable sun hat, and air-dried curly hair.” —Chloe Malle, head of editorial content
“My latest Leset obsession. I bought them on a whim while walking around the West Village a few weeks ago.” —Talia Abbas, director, shopping
“It’s finally wedding time! In addition to a slew of last-minute wedding purchases, I’ve also collected lots of honeymoon items this month! Just a couple of days after our wedding, we’ll be heading to northern Italy for what is sure to be the most relaxing and joyful trip imaginable. My largest Calpak suitcase is almost packed and ready to go—here’s a peek at what’s inside!” —Alexandra Ditch, associate commerce producer
“Mine is a closet low on corsets, so earlier this month, I set out to find some bodice-hugging belts I could use to cinch in flowier silhouettes as a baby step to the real thing. The first, a simple wrap style from LA brand B-Low the Belt, is great for its flexibility: You can adjust it as tight as you want, no belt holes required. The second is larger, a sculptural, oversized piece from Marcella that can be worn two ways. Both are great for adding definition to shirt dresses and jackets.” —Elly Leavitt, lifestyle editor, shopping
“It’s not summer unless I make a huge purchase from Dôen, so to get in the summer spirit I ordered a few things. The scarf trend has taken off and Dôen has renditions of the trend in a few of their pieces, including a pair of buttery satin pants, as well as a handkerchief printed tank that will be perfect for many of my summer outings. Last summer, when I went to Nantucket to visit the new Dôen store, I saw the wonderful Beth—who manages the location—style the brand’s floral Elowette slip skirt with a solid T-shirt. This summer, I’m channeling my inner Beth by copying the look! Also, I’m very into sunglasses right now and my colleague Maddie Schulz has a pair of the Thistles Atlas sunglasses. I tried them on for a shoot recently and immediately purchased them.” —Irene Kim, production & editorial associate
“I was in desperate need of a dress for my friends’ South of France wedding this summer. The sequined netting overlay on this Saint Art dress instantly caught my eye—it’s light and breezy, but with a welcome bit of sparkle. To go with it, I purchased a pair of strappy nude Tony Bianco sandals. They work perfectly with the dress but I know they’ll complement just about any warm weather look.” —Hannah Jackson, fashion writer
“I am sure I did more shopping in May, but the last two items I purchased are both summer essentials: a monogrammed L.L. Bean Tote for my daughter for our upcoming summer travels, and a pair of Chimi sunglasses in this timeless shape with light-tinted lenses.” —Andrea Zendejas, commerce market editor
“My Oura ring wins by a mile. It has now collected enough data to unlock the insights I’ve been waiting for—from sleep/wake and activity tracking to readiness scores and chronotype trends. Equal parts validating and surprising, it’s been fascinating to see long-suspected patterns confirmed in real time. Honorary mention of the month goes to Goldie tees as the softest addition to my wardrobe basics!” —Ciarra Lorren Zatorski, accessories editor
“I finally made it to the B Sides showroom in Hudson earlier this month and picked up this beautiful layered T-shirt, which I have already worn multiple times in different ways. I also shamelessly copied my boss, Chloe Malle, and picked up the Margaux Dylan sandals, which I have been pairing with my new favorite clutch to all of my al fresco dining (and drinking) plans—the fish bag is a real conversation starter! Long summer evenings still call for cozy PJs, and I recently discovered this pair from Petite Plume, which have quickly become my new favorite. There is something about the cropped wide leg and the flared sleeve that makes you feel very chic and put together while you slumber!” —Florence O’Connor, associate content manager
“Needless to say, I bought the dress version of the Cou Cou Intimates Rina tee that I wear every day and rave about nonstop. It’s the perfect Jane Birkin-esque black mini dress, and I will be channeling my favorite movie, La Piscine, while I wear it all summer. And as a die-hard Repetto wearer, I felt the itch to acquire some more fun footwear for when I feel like wearing something a little more elevated than a ballet flat. I am obsessed with these Nou mules: they are wildly comfortable and I’ve found that they kind of go with everything? I guess animal print really is a neutral!” —Fred Sahai, associate commerce producer
“I love seeing soloist India Bradley in the limited edition collection of pretty, ombré silk pieces for Clementine’s collaboration with New York City Ballet. I have the short pajamas for summer naps and the bow tie and pocket square combo for styling date nights at Lincoln Center. After the Pre-Met Party and karaoke at Planet Rose, I walked all the way home, thanks to my husband, Cody, bringing me a fresh, never-worn pair of Adidas Taekwondo Mei shoes. They even include a set of ribbon laces that I tie around my ankles.” —Arden Fanning Andrews, beauty editor at large
“I’ve officially reached the point where statement earrings are becoming a full-blown personality trait. But in the summer, they really are the easiest way to pull a look together—a white tank, relaxed jeans, simple flats, and a great pair of earrings is basically my formula. I recently picked up two pairs from éliou and immediately understood the hype. Their resortwear is also incredibly chic—the kind of site that makes you want to book a vacation just to wear it all.
The last thing I need is another pair of sunglasses, yet somehow they’re always the first thing I end up buying. I couldn’t resist this pair from OTRA Eyewear—I’m a sucker for transparent lenses, and the light brown, almost yellow tint feels like the perfect addition to my collection.” —Molly Barstein, associate manager, audience
“I finally gave into the ballet flat revival and picked up two pairs from Sézane that I genuinely have not stopped wearing: the Anya low ballerinas in braided gold and the Irina ballerinas in powder pink. They have become my ideal in-between shoe for this strange transitional-weather period when you want to feel polished, but still comfortable enough to spend the entire day popping around the city. The gold pair adds just enough personality to even the simplest outfit, while the powder pink feels unexpectedly versatile and impossibly chic with denim, tailoring, or a slip skirt.” —Rose Carlisle, manager, special events
“A little spring cleaning turned into a closet refresh, so this month I picked up a few pieces I felt were missing from my wardrobe. These straight-leg jeans from Every Other Thursday have the perfect vintage feel, and only get better with wear. With summer around the corner, I was also looking for an easy lightweight pant, and the Luna pant from J.Crew are exactly that. Now I need them in every color.” —Taylor Lashley, manager, social media
“This Frank Green water bottle has the energy of someone who says, ‘I’m actually super low-maintenance,’ while wearing head-to-toe The Row—and I have at least one of those things down pat. The chrome finish is so intense it feels less like hydration and more like a tiny futuristic appliance you accidentally became emotionally attached to. (I also bought many Tory Burch products on sale this month, but they are sadly no longer available, so I will spare you the heartbreak and not tempt you with those.)” —Sache Taylor, director, special events
“It’s April showers and still in the 40s but I’m already thinking about summer and easy summer dressing like this Matteau Breton shirt (the perfect one!) and Alo tanks, which are my favorite.” —Chloe Malle, head of editorial content
“I snagged this Beaufille lace trim skirt from the brand’s online archive sale. I had the pleasure of wearing it during the last September shows and have been wanting to make it a permanent part of my wardrobe ever since. While this one is almost sold out, the updated version for this season is available now.” —Madeline Fass, fashion market director, Vogue Shopping
