Perez Hilton’s Condition “Serious But Stable” Amid Hospitalization, Will Require Surgery

"He experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days," the celebrity gossip blogger's family shared in a statement on his website Saturday.

The Story

Perez Hilton’s family is clearing up misinformation about his communication with the media and sharing a new update on his health following his disturbing livestream earlier this week. The celebrity gossip blogger remains hospitalized in Florida, where his condition is “serious but stable,” and he will require surgery in the coming days, according to his family.

In a new statement shared on Hilton’s website Saturday, his family confirmed that he remains hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act, writing, “His communication has been extremely limited and confined to immediate family, medical providers, and others directly involved in his care. He has not communicated with the media or issued any public statements.”

The family also clarified that the only credible updates about Hilton’s condition are those published directly on his website, PerezHilton.com.

“Perez’s condition remains serious but stable. He experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days,” the statement reads. “His treatment and recovery will be a long process. We are grateful that Perez was able to spend time with his mother and sister yesterday.”

Hilton’s family also asked for privacy as he continues his recovery and for the media and public to stay away from their property.

“We respectfully ask members of the media, paparazzi, content creators, and the public to leave the area surrounding the family’s home and not return,” the statement reads.

The latest statement follows an update from Thursday, when Hilton’s family revealed that his children were inside his home just minutes before his livestream.

“The events of the past several days have been nearly unbearable for our family. Just minutes before the public livestream incident, Perez’s children, niece, and sister were inside the home,” the family wrote. “When it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself, they immediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma.”

On Tuesday night, Hilton was on a livestream where he was seen covered in blood and appeared to use an object to cut himself repeatedly. Clips of the livestream were re-shared on social media and went viral.

Deputies responded to the 48-year-old’s home after the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office received “multiple calls regarding an individual who was livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media.”

The following day, Hilton’s TikTok account was banned.

Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., rose to fame in the early 2000s after launching his controversial celebrity gossip blog. The site was known for publishing tabloid photos, which he captioned with his own “doodles.”
