The Story

The original cast of Descendants is honoring Cameron Boyce on the actor’s late birthday.

Boyce died July 6, 2019, at age 20, “in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated,” a family spokesperson shared at the time. He was born on May 28, 1999, meaning he would have turned 27 on Thursday.

Dove Cameron shared two black-and-white images of herself and Boyce on Instagram. “Happy birthday. i love you,” she wrote, as their Descendants co-star Sofia Carson wrote in the comments section, “forever.”

Carson shared her own Instagram tribute, a photo of Boyce in front of a sunset, writing, “Happy heavenly birthday to our angel. You are sunshine, Forevermore.”

Booboo Stewart posted a series of photos and videos of the Jessie star online as well, including a video from behind-the-scenes of the Descendants movies. He wrote, “Happy birthday Mr @thecameronboyce so many laughs.”

Boyce, Cameron, Carson and Stewart starred in the first three Descendants films for Disney Channel, where they played the children of famed Disney villains. Boyce portrayed Carlos, son of Cruella de Vil; Cameron was Mal, daughter of Maleficent; Carson played Evie, daughter of Evil Queen; and Stewart portrayed Jay, son of Jafar.

China Anne McClain, who joined the franchise in its second movie as Ursula’s daughter Uma, posted a few photos of herself, Boyce and Stewart online, writing, “happy birthday Cam.”

Adam Sandler recently featured a cameo of Boyce in Happy Gilmore 2, which his mother, Libby Boyce, expressed gratitude for on Instagram after the sequel’s release. (Sandler and Boyce starred as father and son in the Grown Ups films.)

“Adam and Cameron talked quite a bit in the days leading up to his death,” Libby Boyce wrote on Instagram in July. “Cameron was supposed to be in [Hubie Halloween] and they were strategizing. They had a bond I think related to being authentic, funny and just keeping it real. Adam always finds a way to keep Cams memory alive which warms our heart.”

Libby shared a touching video of Boyce on Instagram Thursday, accompanied by a caption with a series of purple hearts.
