Street Style Flashback—What People Were Wearing at the Fall 2016 Couture Shows

What difference does a decade make in street style? In advance of the fall 2026 couture season, scroll below to see what people wore to the fall 2016 shows.

The Story

In 2025, a decade after Zoë Kravitz wore this tulle Valentino confection to couture, the actor and her fiancé Harry Styles were given a private tour of Maison Valentino’s headquarters in Rome by none other than current creative director Alessandro Michele.

Ahead of the start of the fall 2026 couture season—which will feature debuts by Pierpaolo Piccioli for Balenciaga, Duran Lantink for Jean Paul Gaultier, and Olivier Theyskens for Boloria—we’ve gone into the archive to revisit what street style looked like at the shows a decade ago. That July we clocked Zöe Kravitz in a ballerina-inspired tulle frock by Valentino. These days Bella Hadid is only loyal to walking at Saint Laurent, but 10 years ago she was the model of the moment, having walked for Atelier Versace, Christian Dior, Givenchy, and Fendi. Of course, some things never change: Decades on, models, editors, and stylists such as Natalia Vodianova, Lucinda Chambers, and Christine Centenera remain front-row fixtures at all the hottest shows and still have some of the most enviable ’fits, proving that good style is eternal.

Below, a flash back to street style at the fall 2016 couture shows.

Natalia Vodianova, seen on her way to Christian Dior here, remains a front row fixture at the house. Paris, fall 2016 couture.

Bella Hadid was caught leaving Atelier Versace in a dazzling crimson lip painted by Pat McGrath—there was no mistaking her for anyone else, as the back of her denim jacket read “Hadid.”

Before she became editor-in-chief of Vogue Australia, Christine Centenera was then the magazine’s fashion director. This season, keep your eyes peeled for an early glimpse of her sporting the new Wardrobe.NYC x H&M collection.

We’re glad to report that ten years later, former British Vogue fashion director Lucinda Chambers is still a lover of all things striped.

Sofia Sanchez de Betak, seen here in Valentino, adores a good print. A year after this photo was taken, she launched her own brand Chufy.

Clear the roads for Soo Joo Park who always knows how to standout in a crowd.

As Vogue mentioned in 2019, “Teddy Quinlivan’s first runway show was in 2015 for Louis Vuitton, but her ascent to street-style superstardom has been exceptionally swift.” In 2016, her personal style started to shine with fashionable and campy pieces from Maison Margiela, Rabanne, and Louis Vuitton.

Since her metallic jogger days, French model Cindy Bruna has moved to the big screen. She recently appeared in the 2025 comedy French Girl, as the main character’s enviably glamorous ex-girlfriend. We were convinced.

The camera loves this trio and so do we. Edie Campbell, Mica Argañaraz, and Anna Ewers rock motorcycle glam on the streets.

A glimpse of the delightfully irreverent style of the late Stella Tennant, wearing Chanel, the brand she became the face of in 1996.

Fei Fei Sun in a Chanel 2003 rainbow mohair tweed jacket? Yes, please.

In 2016, Justin O’Shea, the then creative director of Brioni decided to stage his first outing for the brand in Paris at couture week. (It was the first and last time the brand showed couture). Front-row regular Alexa Chung came out to support.

Italian It girls Giorgia Tordini and Gilda Ambrosio were long-time regulars on the street style scene before launching their brand The Attico in 2016.

Catherine McNeil (left) and Binx Walton, caught on the pavement rather than the runway for a change.

Hanne Gaby Odiele—model and champion of intersex human rights—glows like a flame after the Atelier Versace show.

Some things never change. That is especially true for the always in black Vera Wang (who we hear will be at the fall 2026 couture shows).

Nadège Vanhée, a year into her Hermès debut, wears a muted shade of the brand’s signature orange.

Besties Giovanna Engelbert and Laure Hériard-Dubreuil, doing the rounds at couture week in 2016.

Jeanne Damas and Veronika Heilbrunner, both in Valentino, remain street style icons and friends a decade later.
