The Grammy Award-winning vocalist performed a mix of fan favorites and new material
Duffy delivered a live performance at a secret show in London, marking her first headlining concert in nearly 15 years.
The Welsh singer appeared at Hoxton Hall on Sunday (July 5), treating a select group of fans to an intimate performance that included fan favorites from her catalog, as well as new material.
One fan who said they attended the show posted about the experience on social media, raving about Duffy’s talent as a vocalist. “That voice is insane!” the fan wrote, referencing her spirited performance of her classic single, “Warwick Avenue,” during the set, which was first announced by Duffy back in June.
“I’m doing a secret intimate gig in London on the 5th July, next month, and I would love nothing more than for some of you to attend,” the singer wrote at the time. “It’s only small capacity so we can only select a few, but really looking forward to it. I will sing some new songs.” A limited number of tickets for the show were made available through a fan ballot, with the venue remaining undisclosed until the day of the performance.
Duffy’s secret show continues the singer’s return to the spotlight following a lengthy hiatus from the public view. In 2020, she opened up about being drugged, kidnapped, and sexually assaulted, an incident she revealed led to depression and spurred her decision to step away from the industry.
Duffy’s London show also follows hints that she’s currently working on a new studio album, with the singer expressing her excitement about reconnecting with her fans musically.
“If only I could find the right words to explain how much I’ve missed you all,” she captioned a photo from a recording studio posted on her Instagram account in May. “Working on coming back to you.” Trending Stories Yungblud Receives Support From SZA, Alyssa Milano, More After Opening Up About ‘Industry Plant’ Discourse The Most WTF Guests at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding Lauren Bennett, G.R.L. The singer and actress gained prominence with the release of her debut album, Rockferry, in 2008, which won Best Pop Vocal album at the 2009 Grammy Awards. Duffy was also nominated for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, for “Mercy.” Her last studio album, Endlessly, was released in 2010.
Disney+ has announced that an upcoming Hulu Original documentary on Duffy’s life and career is currently in the works.
