YEEZY founder Ye has officially revealed a first look at the YEEZY 800, marking the latest independently produced sneaker from the brand. Following the reveal on Ye’s Instagram post, fans are now eager to know more about the upcoming rollout of YEEZY as the brand continues expanding its footwear lineup beyond its previous partnership with adidas.
The model’s name brings back the numbered naming convention featured across many of Ye’s prominent adidas releases, setting the YEEZY 800 apart from recent offerings that utilized abbreviated titles. Design-wise, the sneaker leans into a retro running aesthetic that has grown increasingly popular across the footwear market. Executed in an all-black finish, the upper combines a ballistic mesh tongue with textured panels wrapping the toe and heel areas. Nubuck-like overlays frame the eyestays and forefoot, while layers of loose, gauze-style mesh impart a raw, unpolished look across the upper and extend onto sections of the midsole.
The debut black colorway is currently the only iteration revealed by Ye, though additional finishes may surface as product development continues. Following recent reports that Yeezy footwear will be carried by select retailers, the model is positioned to become one of the brand’s first post-adidas sneakers to receive broader mainstream retail distribution.
