Johnny Knoxville Comedy ‘Tiny Fugitives’ From Producer Seth Rogen Sets Fall Release (Exclusive)

Inaugural Entertainment has landed domestic rights to writer-director Michael Lewen's feature about chaos at summer camp.

The Story

Johnny Knoxville faces a summer camp uprising as his new comedy heads to theaters.

Inaugural Entertainment has acquired North American rights to Tiny Fugitives and is set to release the indie film theatrically on Sept. 18, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Knoxville stars in writer-director Michael Lewen’s feature that counts Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg as producers.

Tiny Fugitives centers on a group of reckless 12-year-olds who set out to spend the remainder of their lives at sleepaway camp with a scheme that will allow them to avoid reality. Standing in the way of their plot is Bob (Knoxville), the deranged 50-year-old camp counselor who is dead set on shutting down their plans.

Lewen, who previously served as a producer for such Apatow Productions films as King of Staten Island and Trainwreck, helmed Tiny Fugitives from a script he co-wrote with Jacob Kaplan. Producers include Tim Headington, Lia Buman and Max Silva for Tango; Christopher Irion, Rob Hammersley and Sonya Novak for Public House Pictures; and Rogen, Goldberg, James Weaver and Josh Fagen for Point Grey. Kaplan and Tango’s Neil Shah serve as executive producers.

“Johnny Knoxville going toe-to-toe with a pack of unhinged 12-year-olds is comedy gold,” says Inaugural Entertainment founder and CEO Kevin Weisberg. “The Point Grey team and Michael Lewen have crafted a brilliantly nostalgic yet entirely fresh summer comedy. We are thrilled to partner with this spectacular creative team to bring Tiny Fugitives and its infectious, unruly spirit to nationwide audiences this September.”

Knoxville leads Jackass: Best and Last, which hit theaters last month from Paramount Pictures and is billed as the final film for the ribald comedy franchise. He also has a role opposite Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman in Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex, which is set for release later this month after premiering at Sundance.
