Katseye’s Sophia Laforteza Announces Hiatus From Group

“Making this decision wasn’t easy, but I’m learning that health has to come first"

The Story

One of the main vocalists in Katseye is taking a break from the group.

Sophia Laforteza shared in a statement on social media that she will be taking a hiatus to focus on her mental health. “Making this decision wasn’t easy, but I’m learning that health has to come first. I’m realizing that if I don’t take care of my mind and body now, I won’t be able to keep doing what I love the most for so long,” she shared.

The group’s management, HYBE, also spoke out on the 23-year-old singer’s behalf. “While Sophia herself is eager to perform alongside her members, the health, safety, and long-term well-being of our artists will always remain our highest priority,” the statement continued. “We will continue to closely monitor her progress and support her journey. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support for Sophia, and we look forward to her being back with Katseye.” Trending Stories Why Is Everyone Convinced Tate McRae Is MAGA? This pattern isn’t new for the group. In February, the company announced that another group member, Manon Bannerman, would be taking a break for mental health reasons. The singer has yet to return to the group and has been noticeably absent from recent appearances and red carpets.

In her statement, Laforteza also emphasized that she will work hard to continue healing. Katseye is currently booked to make their Tonight Show debut on August 12, following multiple summer appearances, including the 88rising Head in the Clouds Festival in Los Angeles on August 8.
